Capricorn New Moon: Dissolving Old Realities

CapricornGlyph19The Capricorn New Moon happens January 9th at 6:30 pm MST at 19 degrees Capricorn 13 minutes.  Here’s the Chart:  CapricornNewMoon2016.

The Seagoat symbolizes humanity’s evolutionary journey from our humble origins deep in the sea to the highest mountaintop.  The goat’s sure-footedness ensures a successful climb whether it be to the top of a mountain, a business or society.

Accordingly, Capricorns often achieve success in life even though it typically requires many, many years of hard work, discipline, responsibility, self-determination and sacrifice.  Not surprisingly, this sign reflects the natural process of maturity, especially emotional maturity.

Corporate CEO’s, bankers, politicians and academic, scientific and religious leaders all reflect positions of social status.  Capricorns are natural leaders and when they are evolved, they wield the power of their authority for the good of everyone, not just their own personal ambitions and self-interested goals.  Un-evolved Capricorns often believe that ‘the ends justify the means’ which is really just a rationalization for allowing personal ambitions to undermine honesty and ethical behavior.  When Capricorn misuses personal power or authority, it inevitably co-creates a ‘fall from grace’ resulting in the loss of the very positions of prominence, social status and reputation it worked so long and hard to achieve.  A classic example of un-evolved Capricorn expression was Nixon and Watergate.  Nixon’s Pluto (Soul path) was in his 10th house, the house naturally associated with the sign Capricorn.

responsibility12All of us must learn self-responsibility.  From a spiritual evolutionary point of view, Capricorn teaches us to take complete responsibility for ALL of our actions, choices and decisions.  We are ALL responsible for EVERYTHING we experience.  Indeed quantum science has proven this to be true discovering that consciousness not only influences but actually creates our realities both individually and collectively.

Once this crucial lesson of self-responsibility is learned, our attention shifts from WHAT happened and who’s to blame, to WHY our Soul co-created that particular experience in the first place.  Blame assigns responsibility to someone else, revealing a consciousness rooted in victimization.   Self-responsibility is the hallmark of spiritual maturity.

Saturn rules this New Moon.  Saturn is conjunct Venus in Sagittarius now, combining the need for greater responsibility with much more effective utilization and management of resources and a more mature attitude towards relationships of all kinds.   Saturn’s restrictive influence has been starkly evident as global stock markets had their worst opening week in a new year in two decades.  Concerns over the Chinese economy, the value of the renminbi and the policies of Chinese financial authorities sent out a series of shock waves.  More than $2.3 trillion was wiped off the value of global stocks for the week.  Markets in the U.S. had their worst opening week ever as shares closed down about 1 percent on Friday, after falls in Japan and Europe, with the German Dax index posting its biggest loss since 2011.  The Dow lost 6.19 percent in value for the week, the S&P 500 was down by almost 6 percent, and the high-tech-based Nasdaq composite index fell by more than 7 percent.

We all have personal needs and values that reflect what’s really important and meaningful in our lives.  Venus and Saturn are reminding us that we all have a responsibility to ourselves and to each other since we are, after all, one human family.  We also have a responsibility to use and share our planet’s limited natural resources much more wisely.  The contraction of resources worldwide since the global economic meltdown of 2008 continues and is even somewhat emphasized now by Venus and Saturn.  Interestingly, 2008 is when Pluto first entered Capricorn (restrictions, limitations).  It will remain in Capricorn until 2025.  And while we are approaching the halfway point of Pluto’s transit through this sign, 2016 will reflect a culmination of sorts of events that began in 2008.  This is because 2016 is a ‘nine’ year.  Numerologically, nine is the number of completion.  Additionally, 2016 is the 9th year following 2008!

Saturn, the planetary ruler of Capricorn, is currently transiting through Sagittarius (December 23, 2014 to Dec 20, 2017).  As it does so, humanity’s collective attention is focused on a search for greater truth and understanding.  Sagittarius rules our beliefs and belief systems like faith traditions.  As Saturn squares Neptune in Pisces throughout most of 2016, old beliefs, old paradigms and old systems will dissolve.  As this occurs, Saturn’s square to Chiron in Pisces can either reflect a re-imprinting of a sense of victimization as old ways lose their meaning, or the wisdom of acceptance, compassion and forgiveness that can lead to healing and wholeness.

Saturn is also moving in and out of a square aspect with Jupiter in Virgo.  And beginning in August this year, Saturn will square the Nodes of the Moon reflecting many serious and important choices and decisions related to health and wellness, work and career issues, matters associated with authority and authority figures and all manner of things associated with responsibilities.  If you’re really committed to ‘doing the work’ then rewards should be in the offing when Jupiter stations direct in early May.

Combining forces with Jupiter and the North Node in Virgo, Saturn can provide all the support, determination, motivation, discipline and commitment necessary to steadily move forward with any and all efforts to self-improve.  Perhaps you need additional training to move forward with your work or maybe you need to finally get serious about your physical health and emotional well-being.  Remember that Virgo succeeds by moving forward one step at a time.  Don’t get ahead of yourself.  And for heaven’s sake, don’t judge yourself for falling short on any given day.  Just get up the next day and try your best once again.

realitycheckAltogether, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter and the Moon’s Nodes are involved in what astrologers call a ‘Spiritual T-Square’ aspect.  As our search for truth expands with Saturn moving through Sagittarius, so too can our spiritual development accelerate as Neptune moves through its own sign of Pisces.  With Saturn also ruling maturity and self-responsibility, Sagittarius ruling personal truth, honesty and conscious beliefs, Neptune and Pisces ruling spirituality, universal truths and unconscious beliefs, and Virgo ruling crises, self- improvement and healing, in totality, this T-Square is reflecting the growing and urgent need for a collective reality check!  What’s true?  What’s NOT?  What’s real?  What’s NOT?  Who’s taking responsibility and who is NOT?  Who’s being honest and who is NOT?

Interestingly, Neptune and Pisces also rule water.  As Saturn (limitations) squares Neptune one really important and crucial reality coming into a sharper focus is the fact that climate change, environmental pollution and overuse of resources are ALL contributing to water crises the world over.   Investors already know that water is the new gold.

Saturn’s square to Neptune is reflecting water crises across the planet.  Haiti is a classic example.  As the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, Haiti has to deal with issues of water scarcity on a daily basis.  According to one recent study, only 55 percent of the population has access to an improved water source, while close to 70 percent don’t have direct access to potable water.  Haitians often resort to gathering water from ‘garbage-filled’ rivers to supply their households with water for their daily needs, including cooking and drinking, when water becomes too expensive or when they don’t have access to a clean water source.  Access to clean, fresh water is a main concern where waterborne illnesses, such as typhoid, cholera, and chronic diarrhea, are the cause of more than half of Haitian deaths each year.   Neptune’s association with infectious diseases raises the stakes there considerably.

Another water crisis just occurred in Flint, Michigan where residents were told over and over again not to worry about the City Council’s decision to switch the city’s water supply from the city of Detroit to their own Flint River in order to save money.  Now state and city officials are desperately seeking federal assistance to help resolve dangerously high levels of lead contamination in their drinking water after millions spent in repairs and upgrades to existing water treatment systems have failed to remedy the dire situation.  Scientists have determined that the highly corrosive water from the Flint River is leaching lead from the municipality’s aging water pipes.

FlintWaterCrisisFor sixteen months, as Flint residents told the state again and again that their water wasn’t right and independent researchers meticulously documented rising lead (Saturn) levels in water and in the blood of Flint children, the state disparaged and discredited the work of respected scientists, even as its own data supported those findings.  The citizens were telling the truth but were not believed by state officials.  For sixteen months, state and local officials ignored reality and refused to take responsibility for the consequence of their decisions, choices and actions.

Flint’s aging water (Neptune and Pisces) pipes aren’t the only thing dissolving (Neptune and Pisces).  Many old realities (Saturn) are dissolving (Neptune and Pisces).  In turn, our beliefs (Jupiter and Sagittarius) must and will change and transform which of course will alter the quality of consciousness that co-creates our realities.  And as Saturn continues to move through Sagittarius, squaring Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter, delusions, lies, distortions and deceptions will increasingly be revealed and exposed.  This celestial influence couldn’t be more timely since the U.S. is in the midst of a Presidential campaign season this year!

youarecreatingrealityMercury and Pluto join the Sun and Moon in Capricorn in the New Moon chart pattern reflecting the awesome power (Pluto) of our minds (Mercury).  With Mercury retrograde nearly all month, there’s no better time to deeply review and thoroughly reflect upon our thoughts and beliefs.  Its time to take greater responsibility for the quality of our consciousness and what we’re co-creating.  There is no better time to let go of old thoughts, ideas, opinions and perspectives that simply aren’t working or no longer serve your growth and well-being.

Due to its retrograde motion, Mercury will spend nearly two months in Capricorn instead of its usual two to three weeks in a sign.  As it slowly moves through Capricorn, expect important messages and serious information exchanges of all kinds.  When Mercury retrograde reaches its halfway point on the 14th, insights and AHA moments are likely to begin occurring.  Greater understanding may also come as Mercury stations direct (resuming forward motion) on the 25th.  So pay very close attention to the kinds of information coming your way now.  That information, whether factual or intuitive, is likely to be much more meaningful to your evolutionary path than usual.  Pay particular attention to messages that offer insights, direction and understanding about career issues, parenting or parental concerns, or any other matter you feel responsible for and be sure to follow up with actions on those messages.

The Sun, Moon and Pluto in Capricorn are also square Uranus in Aries symbolizing tremendous breakthroughs in science and technology.  Just yesterday, I learned about a new (Aries) fitness technology (Uranus) app that was literally described in the following way:  “This app harnesses the power (Pluto) of data (Mercury) to support and enhance greater personal well-being (Virgo).”  I expect many more revolutionary inventions, discoveries and breakthroughs to occur as Uranus in Aries continues its extraordinary ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ connection with Pluto in Capricorn and hooks up with Jupiter in Virgo in the coming months.  Virtual ‘reality’ anyone?  Talk about Saturn (reality) square Neptune (fantasy, illusion)!

r-evolutionofconsciouness2Finally, Saturn and Capricorn also rule both TIME and SPACE.  Indeed we’re living in extraordinary times prophesied by ancient cultures the world over as a time of great leaps forward in mankind’s evolution.  Its time to fully realize and own the fact that each and every one of the Souls currently alive on this planet chose to be here now!  It’s time to take complete responsibility for what we’re co-creating personally and collectively and resolve to consciously co-create a healthier, more peaceful and more sustainable world.  As we do, we will indeed manifest the prophecies of a collective breakthrough in human consciousness…

Virgo New Moon Solar Eclipse: Healing Crises

Virgoimage20The Virgo New Moon occurs on Saturday, September 12th at 11:41 pm PDT.  It happens at 20 Virgo 10 minutes and is a Partial Solar Eclipse visible in Southern Africa and Madagascar, the Northern half of Antarctica and the Southeastern Indian Ocean.  Here’s the chart:  VirgoNewMoonSolarEclipse2015.

Eclipses ‘reboot’ and progressively upgrade human consciousness. This Virgo eclipse will initiate a greater awareness of what needs to be healed, both personally and collectively.

Virgo is a complex archetype that facilitates a transition from the personal (reflected in the signs Aries through Leo) to the social or collective (reflected in the signs Libra through Pisces).

The ego-centric identity that’s reached full development and desires self-expression in Leo can become distorted through self-aggrandizement.  When this is the case, Leo is humbled and adjusted through Virgo, in preparation for entering into relationships with others as an equal, which is the evolutionary intention of Libra.

Virgo distortions include over-commitment, excessive self-criticism and judgment, workaholism, constant crises, the need to be perfect, the inability to say “NO” and the automatic and habitual reply of “I’m sorry”-  even when not at fault in any way.  These are all dead give-aways of an unhealthy Virgo.

In the end, both Leo’s distorted sense of superiority and Virgo’s distorted psychology of inferiority are compassionately released and healed. This New Moon Solar Eclipse pattern provides the energy to heal these unhealthy perceptions and habits.

Virgo creates crises in order to reveal what needs to be changed, adjusted and healed.  This sign’s capacity for intense self-analysis relentlessly focuses on all its flaws and imperfections.  Ultimately, Virgo becomes exhausted from putting out one fire after another and begins to realize that the common denominator in all the crises is ITSELF!  Once this occurs, Virgo turns its considerable analytical ability to the task of becoming aware of all the judgmental thoughts and beliefs that have been contributing to its very critical quality of consciousness – the very consciousness that’s been co-creating its troublesome reality.  Virgo comes to realize that all the outer crises were simply reflecting its own inner negativity.

Thus begins the process of healing, purification and self-improvement.  Ultimately, Virgo realizes that perfection itself is an illusion.  Ultimately Virgo accepts the fact that imperfections are inherent to being an evolving human.  Ultimately, the punishing self criticism and judgments simply dissolve…

Crises also always orchestrate a necessary realignment with reality when we’ve mistakenly bought into illusions, delusions, deceptions and fantasies that lead us astray.  While denial or avoidance of reality can be a very effective ‘personal distraction strategy’ they also guarantee that at some point, a crisis will be co-created to facilitate the necessary return to reality.

The Sun and Moon in Virgo are joined by Jupiter (personal beliefs and belief systems) in this New Moon Eclipse chart pattern.  All are opposite retrograde Neptune (delusions) and Chiron (wounds) in Pisces (victimization) and inconjunct Uranus (rebellion, revolution and revelation) in Aries (self).  Venus and Mars ‘pile on’ and do the same as they too enter Virgo before the next New Moon.  Wounding is the predictable result of delusional thoughts and false beliefs.  However, its crucial to realize that NOTHING can heal from a consciousness of victimization.  The first step in the process of healing is taking full responsibility for all your experiences.  After all, its your own consciousness that co-created them.  Embracing this truth is fundamental to any effective healing process.

The Virgo energy of this New Moon will continue to be emphasized for a whole year since Jupiter will occupy this sign until September 2016.  During much of Jupiter’s year-long transit in Virgo it will be in a ‘T-Square’ with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Sagittarius.  The T-Square is a planetary configuration comprised of three planets.  Two of the planets are opposite (180 degrees) one another and both are square (90 degrees) a third planet.  Connect the three and you get what looks like a capital “T”.

This T-Square is occupying mutable signs (Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) reflecting the need for flexibility and adaptability to change.  Adaptability is necessary for ongoing and continuing evolution.  All three planets involved are associated with conscious and unconscious beliefs and belief systems (religions, philosophies, cosmologies, theologies).  With Neptune in Pisces symbolizing illusions, delusions and deceptions, Saturn in Sagittarius associated with the search for truth, and Jupiter in Virgo representing crises, this heavenly T-Square is reflecting the earthly reality that faulty beliefs are the root cause of many of our current crises.  Accordingly, resolution of these crises will require an evolution in our beliefs.  What’s really true?  What is actual, factual REALITY?

religionsoftheworldThe sign Saturn is passing through always reflects where the whole of collective human consciousness is focused.  Saturn typically spends two and a half years in each sign.  Saturn initially entered Sagittarius last December then briefly returned to finish up in Scorpio over the summer. Since Sagittarius rules beliefs and belief systems, many events and experiences over the next two years will facilitate a review and reflection upon what we believe and more importantly, WHY we believe that way.  Think back to what was happening in your life late last year for clues about how you’re likely to experience Saturn’s passage through Sagittarius between now and December 2017.  Look beyond the specifics of what was happening to discern how the events were associated with, connected to or revealing some long-held personal belief(s).  Then ponder how those beliefs were perhaps conflicted or were being challenged or confronted.  Then you’ll know what work you have to do to expand and transform your personal beliefs in order to further evolve.

As personal and global crises increase over the coming year, it will become more and more crucial for us to pull our heads out of the sand and take off our rose-colored glasses!  It’s time to GET REAL!  Fortunately, the New Moon’s connection with Uranus in Aries provides the energy to break through and break free of faulty perceptions, opinions and beliefs – about our selves, each other and our planet.  Unfortunately, Uranus can also deliver further shocks to shake us up in order to wake us up if we continue to resist necessary changes.  The same revolutionary energy of Uranus can be utilized to shatter or radically change our reality!  The choice is yours.  How will you choose to manifest this powerful celestial change energy?

Mercury, Virgo’s ruling planet, provides further clues as to how this Virgo New Moon/Solar Eclipse pattern is likely to manifest and unfold in the coming months.  Currently traversing Libra (relationships), Mercury goes retrograde for the third and final time this year on September 17th.  Mercury squares (90 degree angle) Pluto in Capricorn three times before, during and after its retrograde period (September 9th and 24th, October 22nd) all at 13 degrees Libra/Capricorn.  Pluto is super powerful now as it is slowing down ahead of its station direct (resumption of apparent forward movement) on the 24th.   Pluto’s five month retrograde was about realizing what old realities are no longer working.  As it begins to move forward again, we’ll be ready to throw off many of those old realities, including perhaps, old beliefs and opinions.

Mercury square Pluto will also focus considerable attention on inequality in relationships due to extreme power imbalances.  Obviously, inequality creates wounds!  A timely example of an this imbalance is reflected in the extreme wealth disparity that exists today in the United States economy.  The balance of power in our country has dramatically shifted over the past four decades changing our democracy into an oligarchy as this political science study by Princeton and Northwestern University concludes:

While Mercury squares Pluto, intense and powerful messages and conversations will occur as individual and collective needs and values are shared and discussed.  A heartbreaking example of this is the image of the dead three year old Syrian refugee boy, Aylan Kurdi, washed up on a Turkish shore this past week.  Unless and until we change the thinking and beliefs that underpin our current laws and policies, this refugee CRISIS will continue to devastate already desperate families fleeing war-torn countries.

Mercury/Pluto will help throw off old ways of communicating (Mercury) especially with those in positions of power (Pluto in Capricorn).  More direct, truthful and factual exchanges of information will support necessary evolutionary changes.  Can we find the courage to speak the truth and the humility to really fully listen to others as they do the same?  What do you need to say to important others in your life?  What are the world’s citizens increasingly telling their political leaders?!

Libra, the sign that teaches equality, also teaches effective LISTENING.  Proper giving and receiving, a hallmark of healthy, balanced relationships, requires that we truly hear what others are saying they actually need.  Don’t we really all want the same things – to be loved, heard, seen, safe, respected and valued?

Our current crises (a word SyrianRefugee8we’ll see and hear over and over and over again) will only be resolved through changes in our beliefs.  As a result, the way we treat one another will change.   Imagine how different our world would be if we all truly saw and treated each other as equals.

It’s worth noting that Jupiter and Sagittarius also represent interpretation.  This is really not surprising given that how we interpret reality comes directly out of what we believe.  What we believe conditions and influences how we see the world.  As Saturn returns to Sagittarius, Mercury goes retrograde square Pluto, and Jupiter opposes Neptune – ALL ON THE 17th – events and experiences that occur on or around this time will reveal exactly how and where our beliefs need to change.

WayneDyer1Spiritual teacher Wayne Dyer, who just recently passed away, often said; “If we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.”

Human consciousness is in for an upgrade.  Beliefs are changing.  The question is, “Can we change quickly enough to save ourselves, each other and our planet?”

Scorpio New Moon/Solar Eclipse – Powerful Choices

PhoenixImage3The Scorpio New Moon is a Solar Eclipse!  It happens October 23rd at 2:57 pm PDT at 0 degrees Scorpio.  Here’s the chart:  ScorpioNewMoonSolarEclipse2014.  This Eclipse is visible throughout North America, the Pacific region and Eastern Asia.  Eclipse patterns repeat precisely every nineteen years from the same energetic blueprint.  What was happening in your life in 1995?

Scorpio is associated with the natural life/death/rebirth cycle.  In natural law, this is known as reincarnation.  Among Scorpio’s many symbolic glyphs (Scorpion, Snake, Eagle and Phoenix) the Phoenix bird most aptly portrays the cycle of reincarnation as it dies in the all-consuming fire that seems to destroy it, rises again from the ashes and resurrects itself to begin life anew.  Human consciousness (the Soul) is an immutable energy that similarly cannot be destroyed.  It can only change form and does so lifetime after lifetime inhabiting a new and different body and ego-centric identity/personality in its ongoing desire to spiritually evolve and ultimately reunite with the Divine Source that created it.

Accordingly, Scorpio is a powerful archetype associated with the Soul and the evolutionary process itself.  Evolution is facilitated through the most powerful trait we humans possess:  the power of free will choices.  Free will choices drive human evolution and reflect our most important intrinsic capacity, the power to create our reality through what we choose to do, feel, say and believe. Quantum science has recently proven what ancient spiritual sages and mystics have known and taught throughout the ages – that human consciousness creates reality.  Our free will choices are continuously co-creating our reality, personally and collectively, consciously and unconsciously.

Solar Eclipses are super powerful New Moons that ‘seed’ new beginnings reflected in the energies of the celestial pattern of the New Moon/Eclipse.  Eclipse patterns repeat precisely every nineteen years so choices made at the time of eclipses take up to nineteen years to fully manifest.  Accordingly, this Scorpio New Moon/Solar Eclipse heralds a time of crucially important, consequential, life-altering choices.

Scorpio teaches right use of power.  Right use of power creates, heals and transforms.  Misuse of power seeks domination and power over others.  When we feel powerless, we often seek to manipulate and control others and outer circumstances. When we’re truly self-empowered we seek to heal ourselves, overcome personal limitations, and transform outer circumstances for the benefit of all concerned.

Scorpio is a fixed energy sign meaning that its nature is to establish, stabilize and secure.  However, this natural tendency can be a barrier to evolutionary growth.  Seeing change as threatening to the safety and security of the status quo, even when its no longer working for us, often undermines our willingness to embrace necessary change.  The antidote to this common experience comes from another natural Scorpio trait, its innate capacity to be confrontational.  Confrontation has a purpose and that purpose is to overcome the habit of resistance to evolution.  Typically, the more we resist necessary evolutionary growth and change, the more we’ll experience inner and outer confrontations!

When feeling powerless, we often confront and blame others.  When we’re self-empowered, owning our power, we confront ourselves, face our greatest fears and bring deeply buried emotional stuff up into our conscious awareness where it can be healed.  When we feel powerless, we often mistrust and fear deep personal connections with others.  From a place of personal empowerment we more often choose to join forces with others in pursuit of shared goals knowing that doing so exponentially increases our power.

Remember, Scorpio rules the life/death/rebirth cycle.  It rises from the ashes like the Phoenix, renewing itself after being consumed in the fires of transformation. What’s transforming in your life?  What’s ‘dying?’  What needs to be released in order for something new to be birthed in your life?  How are you using your power?  What choices are you making in order to realize your dreams?  Are you choosing consciously or unconsciously?

The Scorpio New Moon/Eclipse pattern includes Venus and the asteroid Pallas Athena. Venus is the quintessential archetypal feminine symbol. Pallas Athena is associated with creative and courageous feminine wisdom and justice.  Together, these two symbolize the re-emergence and re-empowerment of the archetypal power of the Divine Feminine in our world. Patriarchal influences have sought control over women for millennia. Indeed, women’s oppression for thousands of years has wrought severe imbalances on our planet that have reached a point of extremity that threatens our very survival. Both women and men need to respect, renew and restore the power of the Divine Feminine if we are to heal ourselves and our planet. Women’s issues, particularly women’s rights, will continue to dominate headlines over the coming years as more and more women reclaim their power.

Pallas Athena in Scorpio, the sign of RNA/DNA and cellular regeneration, is also associated with the power to heal through deep penetrating insight that reveals the root causes of disease.  Currently, this influence is manifesting through remarkable medical breakthroughs in the science of stem cell research.  Recent clinical trials are showing surprising and astonishing results in the treatment and ultimate ability to cure diseases like diabetes and macular degeneration that causes blindness.  Indeed we’re living in a time of tremendous spiritual and scientific breakthroughs that have the potential to completely transform our reality.  Expect continuing discoveries and innovative solutions to long-standing global problems in the coming months and years.  Viva la revolution!

Saturn and Ceres also occupy Scorpio at later degrees.  Saturn always requires that we take complete responsibility for what we’ve co-created in our reality.  It represents the emotional maturation process.  Being accountable for all of our actions helps us develop our own authority in the world and is inherently empowering.  Ceres has to do with unconditional love, nurturing and nourishment, but also correlates to the experience of losses that are beyond our control.  Inevitably, what has been lost is returned.  There’s always a higher purpose involved in this loss/return cycle that culminates in a deep inner transformation that forever alters the lives of those involved.

Saturn rules leadership and social structures.  Ceres rules food, Mothers and deep grief that ultimately transforms, strengthens and empowers.  Together, these two symbolize the likelihood of major losses and returns affecting nations, governments, leaders and social institutions that care for the needs of the disenfranchised, underprivileged and dispossessed.  I’m hoping that at least one of the ways this influence manifests will be to ‘bring back our girls.’  The Nigerian government is currently negotiating a truce agreement with Boko Haram, a terrorist group that kidnapped hundreds of school girls this past Spring.  What have you lost that caused you deep grief and despair?  Can you see the higher purpose in that experience yet?  Are you prepared for an eventual return that is deeply transformative and empowering?

Mercury in Libra completes its final retrograde of 2014 on Saturday, October 25th bringing insights and AHA’s regarding all our relationships.  The intense and extraordinary three week review of past relationship dynamics is nearing an end.  Be especially mindful of thoughts and revelations that come as Mercury turns direct this weekend.  Then be ready and willing to speak your truth, from your heart, to partners, to affect an evolution of your relationship with them. Some relationships are ready to be healed and can metamorphose to a higher level.  Others may be ready to end.  If so, be willing to release them and bless them for what they taught you, while taking full responsibility for having chosen to be in relationship with them in the first place.

Neptune in Pisces, retrograde since June, goes direct November 17th reflecting altruistic efforts that are creative, compassionate, forgiving, charitable and divinely inspired.  If you’re ready to forgive those who have done you harm, I highly recommend the practice of ho’oponopono.  Click here for more information about this truly inspiring, simple and effective forgiveness prayer from an ancient Hawaian tradition:  If you’re ready to further your own personal spiritual development, check out my Spirituality Now class.  Its three hours of ancient spiritual wisdom/instruction about the Soul’s natural spiritual evolutionary developmental process.  Click on this link for more info:

Choices are uber-important now and carry the potential to have long-term, life-altering, evolutionary consequences for the next nineteen years!  Recognize the awesome power of your free will and choose consciously, to co-create and manifest your dreams for the highest and best good of all concerned!

Virgo New Moon: Crises and Necessary Adjustments

The Virgo New Moon happened at 7:12 am MST/PDT on Monday, August 25th at 2 degrees Virgo 18 minutes.  Here’s the chart:  VirgoNewMoon2014.

Virgoimage13Virgo is a transitional archetype that bridges the fully complete ego-centric development of the individual self, experienced from Aries through Leo, with the need to socialize with others by learning to be in relationship as an equal that initiates in Libra and culminates in Pisces.  The socialization process begins with one-on-one relationships in Libra and ends in Pisces when we remember that we’re all connected and are all One within the entire universal whole.

Virgo follows Leo, the sign of maximum individual development and expression, when the ego has become quite ‘full of itself’ so to speak.  Individual ego aggrandizement must be deflated before arriving at Libra, the sign associated with the need to learn balance and equality between self and others.  Virgo facilitates this ego adjustment process.  Accordingly, the Virgo archetype is most commonly experienced through crises that occur for the purpose of instigating intense self-analysis to discern what needs to be adjusted within the personal ego-centric identity.  Through Virgo, humility and self-improvements occur so the individual is ready to meet others as an equal in Libra.

Virgo carries an intrinsic psychology of inferiority. Leo’s ego-centric aggrandizement is associated with a psychology of superiority.  Both of these psychologies are distortions.  Leo thinks the whole world revolves around it.  Virgo typically focuses on what’s wrong rather than what’s right. Leo needs to learn that everyone is special and the center of their own universe.  Virgo needs to accept its imperfections and learn to see the glass as half-full, not half empty.

Virgo evolves through Pisces, its opposite sign where we learn forgiveness and compassion. Virgo/Pisces also teach discernment between delusions/lies and truth/reality. Perfection itself is a delusion. Once Virgo accepts its imperfections instead of relentlessly judging them, it can begin to heal its wounds. Virgo ultimately learns to make judgments based upon intentions, not outcomes. Self-improvement inevitably results from simply always trying to do your best.  Once Virgo embraces Pisces, and begins to develop spiritually through embracing natural laws instead of man-made laws and religions that are based upon the moral judgments of right/wrong and good/evil, then Virgo becomes a humble servant of the Divine Source that created it, aligning its personal will with higher divine will.  Then the healing really begins…

Mercury is the ruler of the Virgo New Moon and is now opposite Chiron in Pisces.  This aspect is symbolic of the psychological wounds carried in humanity’s collective unconscious resulting from thousands of years of man-made moralistic religious beliefs that have projected judgments, shame and guilt. The Sun and Moon, also in Virgo, are opposite Neptune in Pisces, the sign Neptune rules. Thus the Virgo/Pisces axis is fully activated this month so the above themes of crises, adjustments, forgiveness, humility, healing, spiritual development and self-improvement will all be emphasized. It’s time to take off those rose-colored glasses and see things as they truly are rather than continuing to buy into delusions through denial of reality. This is no small task given the ubiquitous spin, obfuscation and deliberate manipulation of facts we are bombarded with daily by governments, media, businesses and even religious and political ideological belief systems.

Its also no small task when your router goes down and won’t reset and needs to be replaced just when its time to post this New Moon message on my blog.  So for the last day and a half, I’ve been patiently awaiting my new router (my very own ‘technology crisis/adjustment’) while I was trying my best to gracefully accept my inability to go online.  Thanks everyone for your patience awaiting this post!  I have a LOT of emails to catch up on!

Notably, seven inconjunctions (150 degree angles) also occur in the Virgo New Moon chart. Inconjunct angles are themselves associated with crises that require adjustments. Crises are most likely to manifest in areas of life associated with Virgo and Pisces:  workplaces, employers and employees, pets, health matters and institutions, places of worship and religious leaders, bodies and supplies of water, chemical or drug-related matters, prisons and deceptive or fraudulent activities. Adjustments are likely to unfold between players in high-stakes legal, religious or political power struggles. The Ebola outbreak, the pursuit of equal justice in Ferguson, MO, as well as the role that drugs for depression may have played in Robin William’s recent tragic suicide are all examples of how these celestial crisis energies are already manifesting.

For Virgo to succeed in moving forward with goals of self-improvement it needs to know the following in order to successfully outwit its overdeveloped mental capacity.  This sign is masterful at rationalizing excuses, “yeah buts…” and ingenious delay and denial tactics that are all part of a procrastination strategy.  Its important to understand WHY you do this!  Virgo is so wounded by judgments it has bought into about its unworthiness, that it will typically resist moving in any new direction because its terrified of making a mistake.  Check out this TED Talk by Brune Brown, PhD.  Her recent revelatory social research into shame illuminates this very prevalent human psychology:

I call this Virgo psychological distortion ‘perfection paralysis.’  Virgo fears that if it messes up its going to be judged and humiliated yet again and so there’s pressure to always be right.  Which is impossible.  Humans make mistakes.  We’re ALL evolving.  Evolution is intrinsically opposite the state of perfection.  So Virgo doesn’t even begin or try anything new.  It just make more excuses, continues to procrastinate and perhaps creates yet another crisis to fully distract itself from doing that new thing that it really needs to do that scares it to death…  Get it?

Remember, to heal you must be kind and gentle and forgiving and compassionate with yourself!  “Spiritual evolutionary growth is NOT for Sissies.”  I’ve been saying this a lot lately because I now see it in my work with clients each and every day.  But spiritual evolutionary growth IS doable.  In fact, its a driving force behind each and every Soul’s desire to reincarnate in the first place — to continue evolving.  So no more excuses!  Make a plan and get started now.  Remember too that Virgo succeeds best in moving forward ONE STEP AT A TIME.  This is the ‘perfect’ cure for ‘perfection paralysis!’  Just one step at a time…

Relationship dynamics are also in focus again this month as Venus (women) in Leo squares Mars (men) in Scorpio on the 26th and 27th. Throw off outer expectations about how your relationships should be if they conflict with who you really are or what you really value. Some relationships with incompatible goals, needs or values may necessarily end. Recognize and honor differences while remaining friendly even as you part ways.  This will minimize karmic consequences between partners.

Pluto, the planet of the Soul and its desires, as well as the evolutionary process itself is intensifying as it slows down to station direct September 22nd. Retrograde since April 14th, Pluto retrograde always encourages a review of our individual and collective realities. Now as Pluto moves forward, its direct energy can help us to change elements of our reality that aren’t working.

And finally, Mars is also beginning a new two year cycle with Saturn on August 25th as they come together at 18 degrees Scorpio.  Mars is our conscious desire nature that instinctively acts upon what it wants and Saturn has to do with self-responsibility, self-determination, developing your own inner authority and the emotional maturation process.  Use this new Mars/Saturn cycle to initiate new personal goals.  Goal-setting should focus on developing greater self-empowerment and self-responsibility, healing old wounds, pursuing deeper relationship trust and intimacy, increasing emotional maturation and achieving important personal desires. It’s time for self-adjustments that bring self-improvement. It’s time to heal ourselves, our communities and our world.  Its time to move forward in new and more meaningful directions. It’s time to BE the change we wish to see in the world!

Recently a friend offered a classic Buffalo Springfield lyric to describe the extraordinary quality of the times we’re living in. “Something’s happenin’ here; what it is ain’t exactly clear…” Perhaps Bob Dylan can provide the answer: “The times, they are a changin…”

Capricorn New Moon and the 2014 Grand Cardinal Cross

CapricornGlyph6The Capricorn New Moon occurs on January 1, 2014 at 4:14 am MST at 10 degrees Capricorn 57 minutes.  Here’s the chart:   CapricornNewMoon2014.  Because this New Moon occurs on the first day of the year, the planetary positions in the New Moon chart are nearly identical to the planetary positions in the New Year chart for 2014.   Both of these charts are remarkable due to one of astrology’s most dynamic and powerful planetary configurations:  a Grand Cardinal Cross!

Before I explain the energy of the Grand Cross, let me begin with an explanation of the archetype of Capricorn.  Capricorn is the sign of authority, maturity and responsibility.  It also rules structures, forms and boundaries.  Perhaps the most important structure Capricorn correlates to is the structural nature of human consciousness.  Quantum scientists have recently discovered that human consciousness influences reality.   Metaphysicians and spiritual avatars have long known and taught that indeed human consciousness CREATES reality.   This is one of the reasons serious spiritual study always includes meditation techniques and practices that help us achieve mastery over our mind and the quality of our thoughts.

So if the quality of our consciousness influences the reality we experience, the highest expression or manifestation of Capricorn energy is the responsible management of the mind.  As Pluto, the planet of evolution and metamorphosis, transits Capricorn from 2008 to 2024, we have an opportunity to achieve a quantum leap forward in the transformation of human consciousness.  We can learn to change our reality by changing our minds — literally.   As more and more people wake up and realize this truth, more and more of our individual and collective realities will be CONSCIOUSLY created.   As human consciousness evolves and changes, so too will the realities it creates.   Social, political, economic and cultural realities are already changing all across the globe.

Looking back, one of the first of these changes occurred shortly after Pluto entered Capricorn in January of 2008.  Just nine months later, in September 2008, one of our most important social structures began a dramatic metamorphosis as Lehman Brothers, a Wall Street behemoth, went belly up triggering a near collapse in U.S. financial markets that threatened the entire global economy.   Social and cultural paradigms the world over have begun to change as evidenced by events like the Arab Spring and the international ‘Occupy’ movements.

In both the Capricorn New Moon and the 2014 New Year charts the Sun and Moon are joined by Pluto, Mercury and retrograde Venus.  There’s an enormous emphasis of Capricorn energy this year as these Capricorn planets form an ‘anchor point’ in the Grand Cardinal Cross.

Grand Crosses are an astrological configuration comprised of at least four planets in four signs that share the same modality.  There are three astrological modalities:  CARDINAL (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn), FIXED (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) and MUTABLE (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces).  Grand Crosses consist of square aspects (90 degrees) and opposition aspects (180 degrees).   Squares and oppositions are the most dynamic and energetic of all the aspects which represent angular relationships between planets.  Squares force choices and decisions; oppositions bring things to culmination or completion often manifesting as endings or separation.  Grand Crosses ENFORCE CHANGE when change is needed in order for evolution to continue — whether we like it or not and whether we resist or not.  To say that 2014 is a time for big changes is an epic understatement!

Crosses manifest the energy inherent in the modality represented by the cross.  The Grand CARDINAL Cross instinctively initiates actions that change the status quo and begin new cycles of evolution that move us in new directions that bring new experiences.  Grand Cardinal Crosses are intense and powerful astrological configurations.  However, as instinctive actions are initiated and bring about changes, we become insecure as we find ourselves in brand new territories.  Retreat to the old and familiar to restore security often characterizes cardinal energy in a dance of ‘two steps forward; one step back.’  Eventually, feedback and knowledge gained from all the actions taken help us sort out which ones are worth continued effort, pursuit or commitment.

Pluto in Capricorn just reached the midway point in a series of seven square aspects to Uranus in Aries that are unfolding between 2012 and 2015.  Interesting, while Pluto is the planet of evolution, Uranus is the planet of revolution.   Uranus entered Aries, the sign of new beginnings in 2010.  Together, Uranus and Pluto are waking us up and shaking us up to new realities and new social paradigms.  Additionally, this Grand Cardinal Cross is completed by Jupiter in Cancer (June 2013 to June 2014) and Mars in Libra (December 2013 to July 2014).  This Cross will continue until mid-summer of 2014 promising many more r-evolutionary global changes.

Pluto in Capricorn demands complete self-responsibility and personal accountability especially among leaders.  It also reflects the need to release what’s old, outworn and limited.  Uranus in Aries is associated with surprising new scientific and technological breakthroughs, inventions and discoveries.  Jupiter in Cancer is urging us to expand our emotional understanding or ’emotional intelligence’ and to establish a greater sense of community and family in order to find and nurture the emotional well-being that we all need to feel safe and secure.  Mars in Libra is forcing us to face, head-on, issues of social inequality and injustice that have long undermined harmonious relationships, world peace and shared global prosperity.

In short, this Grand Cardinal Cross is urging us towards greater cooperation with and respect for one another.  In short, this Grand Cardinal Cross is teaching us to grow up, take greater responsibility and learn to take much better care of ourselves, each other and the planet.  In short, this Grand Cardinal Cross is reminding us that we’re all in this together and that we all do better — TOGETHER!

Venus in Capricorn is currently retrograde (December 21 to January 31).  Venus retrograde encourages a review of essential needs, resources and relationships.  People and financial issues from the past will re-surface to remind us of what worked and what didn’t.  We all need food, clothing and shelter to sustain us physically.  But we also need to find personal meaning in life that feeds us emotionally, intellectually and/or spiritually.  Venus rules what we value and what we value determines what will have personal meaning in our lives.   What do you value?  What makes your heart sing and your Soul rejoice?  What do you need to survive?   What do you need to thrive?!  Are you taking complete responsibility for getting your own needs met???

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn which has been transiting Scorpio for over a year.  Saturn’s only aspect now is a trine (120 degrees) to retrograde Jupiter in Cancer.  This planetary pair has a twenty year cycle that began in May 2000 in Taurus – the sign of resources and values!  Together, they’re helping us to mature and expand emotionally.  Cultures in the West notoriously dismiss, deny, suppress and ignore emotions while glorifying intellect.   Its time to restore balance between the two.  This Saturn/Jupiter cycle is also teaching us how to better use and share earth’s limited resources.   A wise indigenous saying reminds us that when all the air, soil and water that sustain life are polluted, we can’t eat money!

It’s time to wake up and grow up and to take greater responsibility for what we co-create and how we co-exist.   It’s time to let go of the past and to boldly choose anew whether it be new relationships, new careers, new homes, new creativity, new friends or a new sense of self.  Be brave.  Be responsible.  Be fair.   Perhaps another old saying is more timely than ever now:  BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD!

Virgo New Moon

Virgoimage2The Virgo New Moon occurs on Thursday, September 5th at 4:36 am MST/PDT at 13 degrees and four minutes of Virgo.  Here’s the chart:  VirgoNewMoon2013.  Virgo is the sign of crisis, criticism and judgments, analysis, adjustments, self-improvement, employment, healing and service.  Virgo is intrinsically judgmental and self-critical.  Typically Virgo obsesses about all of its imperfections and often devolves into self-defeating and self-sabotaging behaviors.  Psychologically, Virgo carries a consciousness of inferiority that never feels good enough.  This sign inherently focuses on what’s wrong instead of what’s right!

Following the sign of Leo, where individual ego-centric identity reaches maximum development and expression, Virgo naturally humbles over-inflated egos.  In so doing, Virgo adjusts, improves and heals the self so it can become a servant of the divine, giving of itself through ‘right work’ in service to and for the benefit of the whole of society.  Through Virgo, egos are adjusted and personal will is aligned with higher will in order to serve something greater than the individual self.

Healing on all levels (mental, emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual) is emphasized during the coming weeks as this New Moon opposes retrograde Chiron (wounds and healing of wounds) in Pisces symbolizing the psychological and spiritual wounds humanity has suffered as a result of thousands of years of false teachings about the ‘separation of Spirit and flesh’ by moralistic and judgmental man-made religions.  The truth is that we are not and never have been separate from the divine Source that created us. We must realize that indeed it is through our physical senses (flesh) that we learn, heal and ultimately evolve.  The old adage “You must feel it in order to heal it” can truly be a guiding mantra in the coming weeks.

For Virgo to evolve and heal, it must reach for its opposite sign, Pisces.  This is the sign of natural spirituality where Souls remember that everything in the Universe is connected and that each Soul is therefore connected to and part of All That Is.   Pisces reflects the Soul’s desire to return to and reunite with the Source that created it, dissolving all remaining vestiges of false beliefs regarding ‘separateness.’  When a Soul remembers/realizes its connection to every other Soul, it naturally becomes more compassionate, accepting, tolerant and forgiving.  These are the timeless, transcendental spiritual values associated with Pisces; values that naturally facilitate healing, especially of the spiritual and psychological wounds associated with age-old distortions of truth that left humanity feeling unworthy of God’s love. Through Pisces, Souls/Spirit reconnect and realign with matter/flesh/the physical world (nature) and come back into harmony with natural laws.  This month’s Virgo New Moon promises the opportunity to either re-imprint old wounds and feelings of victimization, or to deeply heal.  Choose healing!

A very favorable, supportive and benevolent Grand Sextile continues this month.  Grand sextiles are a complex planetary configuration made up of two Grand Trines (triangles comprised of three planets/points all 120 degrees apart).  One triangle points upward, the other downward.  Together they form a pattern like the Star of David.  This Grand Sextile is comprised of a Grand Earth Trine and a Grand Water Trine.  The earth element symbolizes physical reality and material resources; the water element represents deep emotions and feelings.  Connecting the six points associated with both Grand Trines results in six sextile (60 degree angles) aspects — a Grand Sextile.  The planets and points involved are:  the Moon’s South Node in Taurus, Jupiter in Cancer, the Sun in Virgo, Saturn and the Moon’s North Node in Scorpio, retrograde Pluto in Capricorn and retrograde Chiron in Pisces.  Material gain and emotional security and stability are available and possible with this celestial influence.  Create abundance and well-being!

However, trines and sextiles are ‘easy’ aspects as the archetypal energy they carry is opportunistic and rewarding, but only if effort is made to utilize those energies.  Often, these aspects come and go with nothing to show for them due to the complacency and laziness associated with their easy energy.  For those who make the effort, rewards can also come easily.  So make the effort!

The challenge this month comes from Mars and Saturn.  Mars in Leo squares Saturn in Scorpio on September 9th and then squares the Nodes of the Moon in Scorpio and Taurus on the 10th.   Planets squaring the Nodes always set up choice points.  Many will feel forced to make choices and others will likely feel that choices are being forced upon them.  Limitations (Saturn) relative to options, who gets to choose, and how those choices are implemented will play a major role in many decisions made at this time.  Mars is instinctive in nature and typically acts much too hastily.  However, decisions made and actions taken now will likely have significant, far-reaching consequences, so check impulsiveness and instead be sure to take the necessary time to carefully consider, deeply contemplate, thoroughly analyze, dutifully research and ultimately to wisely choose what’s right, proper and good — for everyone involved — no matter what.

We’re now nearly halfway through the r-evolutionary shift in collective human consciousness reflected in the heavens by the ongoing squares (90 degree angle), seven in total, between Uranus and Pluto.  Uranus and Pluto have a cycle that lasts 127 years.  Their current cycle began in the 1960’s.  Seeds planted then have now reached a turning point relative to their intended manifestation.  Protests against war, women’s rights, minority rights, voting rights, changes in culturally accepted relationship norms, and increasing health and environmental awareness were prominent issues in the 60’s and they have resurfaced again now.  Globally, social, political, economic, religious, environmental and scientific paradigms are crumbling as their limitations and corruption are revealed.  Personally, old ideas, opinions, perspectives and beliefs are losing meaning and are being confronted, challenged and reformed.  Quantum science has now proven that consciousness creates reality.  As humanity continues to ‘wake up,’ our reality and subsequently our world will continue to change and evolve.

It’s crucial now to become ever more consciously aware of, and to take complete responsibility for, all personal choices including every thought, feeling, emotion, belief and action.  Free will choice facilitates human evolution. What are you thinking and feeling?  What do you believe?  What are you choosing?!

Learning that we are all responsible through the quality of our own consciousness for co-creating what we experience is a crucial spiritual evolutionary step that heals victim consciousness.  Healing cannot occur from a consciousness of victimization.  But who among us has not been affected by the pervasive religious influences that underpin the very foundations of most cultures on the planet and condition us to believe that a ‘perfect God’ will judge and punish us for our imperfections?  I find it profoundly ironic that the same religions that preach that God is perfect and we are not (we are born sinful) also teach that God made us in his image.  How do you reconcile these two utterly incongruent and completely antithetical teachings?  Perhaps the greatest distortion of natural law/truth of all time is that God or the ‘Creator’ is perfect.  If we are made in the image of God/Creator, and we are evolving (evolution is a natural law), then God/Creator must also be evolving.  Perfection and evolution are antithetical in nature.  Accept your imperfections.  Know that you are a child of the divine Creator and simply choose to continue to evolve.

It’s time to assess how far we’ve come, and how far we have yet to go to process and integrate all the changes that have occurred both personally and globally over the past few years.  In the coming weeks and months, individual and collective choices will powerfully direct the forces of revolutionary change already underway.  Will we choose war yet again?  Will we choose to use our collective power to unify and heal or to conquer and destroy?  Will we choose love or hate, peace or war, freedom or slavery, hierarchy and dominance or sharing and equality?

We are living in extraordinary times.  Prophecies of this time in human history predict a quantum spiritual evolutionary leap in human consciousness.  It’s time to heal the wounds of our past and to create a radically different future — together.  Let’s honor the Hopi prophecy that says, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
